Ghent, Belgium – Four Pees, an international distributor for the print and publishing industries, announces their presence at Labelexpo. Together with Global Vision, the world leader in the development of innovative proofreading technologies, and Creative Edge Software, innovative developer for 3D ideation and design technology in the packaging market, they will present their packaging solutions from September 28 to October 2 in booth 4D67.
Rapid 3D packaging visualization
IC3D Suite is a rapid packaging visualization tool catering to a broad range of product types (from flexible products, over cans, bottles and other rigid product types to visualization of folded carton products); it allows visualization early in the design or ideation process and in a much quicker fashion than traditional 3D design tools.
Special effects such as gold foil or embossing can be visualized perfectly and the material editor allows customization of the look of all components of a product. As it’s easy and quick to place many different models in a scene, a product can be shown in secondary packaging or on a point-of-sale unit.
IC3D Suite uses “Image Based Lighting” which delivers accurate and stunningly realistic lighting effects in real time. This makes the product not only suitable for packaging visualization through the design or ideation cycles, but allows the creation of synthetic box shots for marketing and sales presentations as well. Through a link with an augmented reality platform, the product can be shown on a phone or tablet in the actual environment, shop or supermarket where it will be sold.

Automation of 3D packaging visualization
In many packaging workflows, a range of product “flavors” has to be developed. Whether crisps, jam, tins or baby food, the process starts with the creation of a 3D model with applied textures, artwork and subsequent iterative replacement of those textures and artwork to develop the many different flavors of the original design.
Iteration costs a lot of time and money and IC3D Automate, the latest product from Creative Edge Software, does away with it, completely. IC3D Automate uses the technology from IC3D Suite and allows it to be integrated with any common production workflow, DAM solution or automation tool.
IC3D Automate will open an IC3D design file “hands free” and run automated “actions” on it, ranging from replacing textures or artwork, outputting high resolution images at specific camera angles, generating 3D PDF files and much more.
IC3D Automate can easily be integrated in your workflow, with total flexibility and can be configured to perform exactly the type of automation you require. This increases product development speed, reduces human errors during the visual development of product variations and can help to reduce time-to-shelf during product development.
